The Catholic Euro-African Fraternity

[The Catholic Euro-African Fraternity is a non-profit association that works on behalf of African Catholics. Its mission is to bring together in prayer the Christian communities of Europe and Africa because of their historical links, and materially assist African Catholics. The Catholic Euro-African Fraternity is a charity of the Knights of Our Lady.]

If religious practice has declined steadily in Western countries, this does not hold true in Africa. Between 1999 and 2009, the African Catholic clergy increased by 38.5%. This figure gives a good indication of the vitality of the Catholic Church on this continent. This young dynamic church still suffers great difficulties and needs to be sustained. Through the Catholic Euro-Africa Fraternity, the Knights of Our Lady have been trying to help the African church for many years now.

In 2011, thanks to donations from its members, this association began to help build a church in the village of Dungu (DRC). Today only € 1600 must still be found to finalize this project.
In Senegal, the Fraternity has assisted Father Albert Senna, parish priest of Mary Queen of Thies, and his parish to "Immaculate Heart of Mary", in this majority Muslim country, since 2010.
In the same country, the Fraternity supports an orphanage looked after by Sister Marie-Jeanne Lopy Diourbel. Sister Marie-Jeanne has had many health problems but continues her active apostolate for orphans with courage. She recently wrote to the leaders of the Fraternity: "It has been several months since you have received my news; I was very sick, one of my legs was amputated, and my hands are now stiff. I find it hard to write... As soon as I get better, I will write at great length. Currently I am recovering slowly... I received the money, sent for the children's house. There is much to do!" The roof of the orphanage building was hit by a tornado this year, and renovation work is still not completed, but the Fraternity was able to make a donation to help feed the children.

The Fraternity this year also helped the minor seminary of Natitingou in Benin by providing prayer books, Bibles and missals.
But with the Fraternity's correspondent in Benin departure from that country, the proper tracking donations is no longer guaranteed, and the Fraternity has decided to discontinue its action in Benin.

Donations can also be addressed to Damien COPERE 29, rue de la Comet - 92600 – Asnières, France
