The above admonition contained in the MSM Rule primarily means that one’s personal conduct should at all times reflect the dignity, values and behaviors required by the MSM’s Rule of Life. It also means that, to the extent that you may be also happen to be a member of another order of chivalry, your primary personal sense of spiritual affiliation is to the MSM. Although there are several instances of this (there are members in Portuguese, French and Pontifical orders), one must in fact ask the Master for a special dispensation to belong to another order. The primary reason is that there should be no conflict in one’s obligations under different Rules of Life, nor any unexamined personal conflicts of loyalties.
