Passing of Chev. John Wrigley

Knight of Our Lady, Chev. John Wrigley died in Folkestone, Kent, UK, on Sunday June 3rd 2012, surrounded by his family (he was a widower).

John was 85, and had been dubbed in 1984. He was an exemplary Catholic, family man, parishioner, J.P. and knight. He was also just the second English Knight of Our Lady, following Chev. Martin Blake, and acted as the Sponsor for the current British Preceptor, Stephen de la Bedoyere.

As noted by the Master of the Order: "Our fellow knight John, was a truly faithful member of the Militia Sanctae Mariae, and I have
fond memories of my meeting with him when, on the occasion of one of my visits to England, I traveled to Folkestone..."

And, as further noted by the Preceptor: "I feel that we can safely invoke John’s intercession for the Militia, and indeed for our own needs."

Chev. Wrigley's Funeral Service will be held on Monday, 18th June at 10:00 at the Church of Our Lady Help of Christians in Folkestone. The Preceptor asks that members of the Order attend if possible. If you are an observant, it would be correct to wear your habit.

Condolescences may be sent to Chev. Wrigley's daughter at the following:
